Investigating historical true crime, Victorian and Edwardian detectives, and the history of forensic science
Welcome
I am a professional historian, specialising in historical true crime cases, with a specific focus on the sleuthing activities of the Victorian and Edwardian detectives who investigated them, and the early forensic science techniques they used to solve them. I have a PhD in the evolution of police detective practice.
I love all things criminal and I can’t resist an investigation into the shady streets of the past. Join me for a tantalising glimpse into the murky world of nineteenth and early twentieth-century crime. You will meet suspicious characters, nefarious criminals, and the detectives who tracked suspects from the shadows…
